Bette Kaiser, MFT

I am a California licensed Marriage & Family Therapist practicing in Aptos, California.  For the past ten years my clinical experience has been in Santa Cruz County in private practice.  I also bring more than 25 years of professional experience in corporate work encompassing legal, government, and sales/marketing into my understanding and methods for therapy.  I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

My approach to therapy comes from personal experience with meditation for more 28 years as a Zen student and member of San Francisco Zen Center and Ocean Gate Zen Center.  From involvement in meditation, I believe some form of meditation is an effective aid to therapeutic self-inquiry. 

Credentials:

• University of California, Santa Cruz.  Bachelor of Arts Degree in both psychology and Women's Studies. 
• California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco.  Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. 
• California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco.  Ph.D. candidate in humanities with an emphasis on East/West Psychology.  Dissertation topic is a narrative inquiry into the experience of nightmares and meditation as a transformational process.
